We desire to be in line with what God is doing and being intentional in how we serve our guests and each other.
Sugar Pine Christian Camps has a wide variety of positions available for our 2018 Summer Season which are listed below. All positions will require a current First Aid/CPR certificate including blood borne pathogens that you will be responsible for obtaining if hired. Our summer season is from May 27-August 16th. Certain positions will have different reporting dates.
Program Positions at Sugar Pine
Are you ready to serve in dynamic and exciting ways? Working at Sugar Pine with the Program Team may just be what you are looking for. The Program Team functions in a variety of ways serving at both the Camp Sugar Pine and Timber Mountain sites. The Program Team will work with our Signature Camps (Kids, Junior High and High School age students) as well as with our Guest Groups. Employment dates are May 27—August 16. Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens is required for all positions. Please see the following job descriptions below for a program position at Sugar Pine.
Program Team Leader
Grow as a leader and make an impact in the lives of kids, adults and your peers. You will plan and implement games, lead Bible studies, help emcee Signature Camps and teach seminars. This fun, exciting and fast-paced role will allow you to connect with many guests of all ages and challenge you to be the best leader you can be! Applicants should have two years of ministry experience, have a quality on-stage presence, be able to work with all ages of students (Kids, Junior High and High School) and be at least 21 years of age. Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens is required for all positions.
Program Team Assistant
If ENTHUSIASM is your name and working with Kids, Junior High and High School students is your game, becoming a Program Team Assistant may just be the right role for you! The Program Team Assistants assist the Program Team Lead in the planning implementing games, up-front leadership, team competition leadership, and much more! Assistant must desire to join in on the fun with Kids, Junior High and High School students, have great organizational skills, and be able to take initiative to perform his/her duties. Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens is required for all positions.
Worship Leader/Program Team
Do you love leading worship in an environment built for energetic kids? You will have the opportunity to plan, prepare, and engage kids during our worship times with your skills in leading with a guitar or keyboard! The Worship Leader will share his/her skills within our devotional and campfire sessions as well. The Worship Leader will also play an active role on the Program Team at both Camp Sugar Pine and Timber Mountain, helping with the daily program and guest group activities. Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens is required for all positions.
*Cabin Leader/Program Team (this is a half summer position from June 10-July 28)
Being a Cabin Leader requires commitment to have complete care of a cabin of campers (1 to 8 ratio), 24 hours a day, 6 days a week. Cabin Leaders will have the opportunity to work with Kids, Junior High and High School Students. Cabin Leaders will serve campers by leading them in cabin time devotions, teach camp seminars, engaging in all aspects of games and recreation and providing quality care for his/her cabin of students! Cabin Leaders will also serve within the Program Team, helping with the planning and implementing of games, leading all aspects of recreation and assisting in the responsibilities of serving our Guest Groups when our Signature Camps are not in session. Cabin Leaders must be 18 years of age, and if working with High School/Junior High students, must be at least two years older than students. Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens is required for all positions.
Are you a crafty person who loves to help students create a memory to take home from camp? Our Craft Leader is a person who is able to create typical camp crafts (lanyards, perler beads, sand art, etc.), love students that need help, and desire to help students build a new skill in the art of craft making! The Craft Leader must be a detailed oriented person with strong organizational skills and be able to maintain a clean and organized craft area. The Craft Leader will also function within the Program Team, planning and implementing games, assist in many areas of program at both Camp Sugar Pine and Timber Mountain, and with our Guest Groups needs. Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens is required for all positions.
Our Program Lifeguard positions are designed for a responsible person who can obtain a Certified Lifeguard, CPR/First Aid including blood borne pathogens and Waterfront certification. The Lifeguard will have many responsibilities; supervising students in our pool and ponds, and have a lot of fun interacting with students during our water games, recreation and all other aspects of camp. The Lifeguard will also serve on the Program Team, planning and implementing games, and assisting with our guest groups.
A.V. Tech/Program Team
The A.V. tech role at Sugar Pine will impact lives for Christ by capturing memory-making moments through the use of photography and compiling videos to be shown during our Signature Camps. The A.V. Tech will also set up sound equipment for our chapel times and take care of any sound/video needs of our Guest Groups. The A.V. Tech will also function as a part of the program team, helping with all aspects of the Camp Sugar Pine and Timber Mountain program. Knowledge of camera and video equipment is a must, as well and basic sound board skills. Current First Aid/CPR certification including blood borne pathogens is required for all positions.
Camp Sugar Pine Positions
The Camp Sugar Pine facility serves two distinct roles - running two weeks of Signature camps for our own Jr. High and Sr. High Summer Signature Camps and serving as host to a variety of youth and family camps which use Sugar Pine as a Guest Retreat facility. If you love serving God by serving others, this is the place for you!
Team members will have the opportunity to work alongside a variety of personalities while receiving the satisfaction of providing a service that reaches each guest on a personal and spiritual basis. Must hold a valid Food Handlers permit (permit test can be taken online!). The Dining Services team will have the opportunity to help prepare meals, maintain a clean and efficient Dining facility, clean up after meals through dishwashing and general kitchen cleaning, and work in a fun and fast paced learning environment. A Team Lead position may be selected for this department. Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens is required.
Welcome to the exciting and diverse team of Sugar Pine’s Retail Services. Our Café serves as the social hub for our guests. You'll be involved in ensuring that every camper has a world-class experience from concessions and retail. You will enjoy a unique and well-rounded summer experience that you can take with you for a lifetime. Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens, and a current Food Handlers permit is required.
Serving as a Facilities Assistant is an exciting way to Impact lives for Christ by maintaining our beautiful camp. The Facilities Assistant will work in a variety of job duties such as; grounds-keeping, painting, construction, trash maintenance and operation of basic camp equipment. The Facilities Assistant must have a friendly personality and able to lift up to 60 pounds. A Team Lead position may be selected for this department. Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens is required.
The Accommodations Assistant will serve by cleaning our cabins, meeting rooms and camp including trash maintenance, laundry upkeep, and providing on-call solutions for our guests. Applicants should have a friendly personality and be able to lift 25 pounds on a consistent basis. Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens is required.
Are you excited to impact lives for Christ within a fast paced outdoor environment? The Adventure Recreation Assistants will provide safe and quality instruction in the following areas; Bouldering, Life Guarding, High Adventure & Low Challenge Course, Zip Line, Archery, BB Guns, Paintball, Hiking, Field Games and Canoeing. The Adventure Recreation Assistant must be a good communicator, friendly to our guests, and able to work within a team environment. Applicants must be 18 years of age or over and ready for a physically challenging summer. A Team Lead position may be selected for this department. Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens is required.
Looking for a summer job that provides safety, protection and utilizes your talents? Sugar Pine Lifeguards will provide safe and quality supervision of all aquatic areas including ponds and pools. Lifeguards must be a confident communicator, detail oriented, willing to serve our guests and able to work within a team environment. This position will also include job responsibilities in Adventure Recreation, including facilitation of Archery, BB Guns and Paintball. Applicants must be 18 years of age or over and prepared for a physically challenging summer. Current Lifeguard Certification is required: additional Waterfront Certification will be provided by Sugar Pine. CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens is also required.
Are you a night owl? The Health Care Assistant, under the supervision of our camp Registered Nurse, is responsible for assisting in providing health and safety services to campers and staff from 7:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. during our Signature Camps. You will be on duty for emergencies to provide CPR and First Aid coverage and to administer evening medications to our staff and campers. There may be occasions that you will work in another department while you are on-call for medical emergencies. A Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens and a current Food Handlers permit is required.
Guest Services Host/Hostess
Do you love meeting and serving people? Are you energized by serving others? Each year Sugar Pine hires two enthusiastic people to join our Guest Services Department. They help to ensure that our guests know just how important they are to Sugar Pine. Our Guest Hosts work with group leadership teams to meet their needs. We host meals and assist with any immediate guest needs. We nurture existing relationships through serving our guests. One of our hires this season will become a Team Lead for the Guest Services Summer Team. Current CPR/First Aid certification including blood borne pathogens is required.
